Getting Started
After browsing our web site, contact "Karen for your pets and home" and we can
e-mail or drop off our Service Forms. Once you're ready we can then set up a free interview so that we can all get acquainted and to ensure compatibility. If you are utilizing our pet services you will also complete a dog/cat personality profile We will use this opportunity to get any special instructions for your home and/or your pets' care, and discuss your needs, concerns and schedule. Please make copies of any keys needed to enter your home in order to pick up or sit for your pet/home.
Doggie Requirements (for dog walking)
·Must be up-to-date with vaccinations
·Every dog must be spayed or neutered
·On a flea prevention program such as Sentinal.
·Have no history of aggressive behaviour.
·Does not pull excessively on-leash. This is very important as your dog will be walked with other dogs, and the walker must have complete control at all times.
·To qualify for off-leash park time, your dog must come when called & know the 'sit' & 'stay’ command.
Payment
"Karen for your pets and home" accepts cheque or cash payments either just before your Dog’s walk or at the end of each week. If you are booking pet or house sitting payment is expected at the time of the consultation. If your dog is scheduled for a walk from Monday to Friday, payment is due on Friday.Your cheque should be payable to "Karen for your pets and home". If you are a repeat client please leave the full payment for me on my first visit to your home to sit for your pet and/or home.
Pet Tales
"Karen for your pets and home" provides a “Doggie Tale” for you on a daily or weekly basis to let you know what your dog has been up to. For pet sitting, we will write a note or send you an e-mail discribing your pet's behaviour etc.You will be notified immediately if the "Karen for your Pet and home" representative has any concerns about your pet’s behaviour or health or if there are any concerns about your residence.
Cancellation and Notice
"Karen for your pets and home" would like as much notice as possible, 2 weeks notice or more if possible. If however you need us to walk your dog or sit for your pet and/or your home and you are only able to give us short notice, for example a few days or even just a few hours, we will do our best to accommodate you. This depends on "Karen for your pets and home's" schedule and available space. We do ask that you give us at least 48 hours notice for any cancellations for dog walks and 2 weeks for pet and or house sitting. Without sufficient notice payment is non refundable or still required. If we arrive at your home for a dog walking booking and your dog isn’t there, payment is still required. Any pre-booked pet/house sitting and/or dog walking deposits are non-refundable as these pre-booked times are held. If 2 weeks notice for a cancellation is given 1/2 of your full payment will be returned to you.
Dirty Doggies (dog walking clients)
We will walk your dog rain or shine. On really wet days the "Karen for your pet and home" representative will try to keep your dog out of the mud, but dogs will be dogs (they love to get dirty!), so we do ask that you keep a towel handy so that we can dry/clean your dog off if necessary. Please note that if we are walking your dog in a group, there is a limit to how much time we can spend cleaning off your dog when we drop him off. We will do as much as we can, but we can’t bathe your dog if others dogs are waiting to return to their homes. We will be happy to crate your dog or block him in a designated area in your home if you wish - just let us know! Also, you have the option of having your pooch kept on-leash on really wet days.
Hours
Our regular hours are 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, however we do offer private walks and pet sitting in the evening , early mornings and on weekends for an additional fee (please refer to the services page). From time to time, "Karen for your pets and home" will be closed for a day or two. Mostly this occurs on Stat. Holidays and Weekends etc. (we will do our best to give you plenty of notice)
Please be aware that Karen will be away February 18, 19, 20 and 21. I do however have a representative of "Karen for your pets and home" will be filling in for me during this time. If you need me during this time, I'd be happy to have them come to your home for a meet and greet.
Confidentiality
Keys are stored in a locked key box, with coded labels to ensure your security and anonymity. Please be reminded that "Karen for your pets and home" is licensed, insured and bonded.
*We cannot accept aggressive, injured or ill pets, and we have the right to refuse service to un-neutered pets or pets in heat. You might consider booking a private walk for un-neutered dogs, older pooches, excitable pups, or dogs in heat. We do have experience in administering medication, if your pet requires daily medication.
